Wine Harvest Festivities – Quinta do Furão

Every year the Quinta do Furão Hotel joins in with the countless cultural displays held round the island, as part of the celebrations of the wine harvest, in a cultural event held in the month of September.

For the occasion the Quinta do Furão has programmed a set of educational-cultural activities providing both guests and the general public the opportunity of taking part in a traditional live harvest festival, sampling a buffet inspired by the island’s traditional cuisine and to enjoy a wine tasting, on September.

PROGRAMME

12:30 pm – Welcome to Participants
A wine aperitif Madeira on Ice is served on the cliff, next to the hotel, accompanied by the traditional sounds of a local Folklore Group, in harmony with one of the most breathtaking scenery of the island – the Atlantic Ocean and the uncut Northeast Coast.

1:00 pm – Lunch
A typical Madeiran Buffet, served around the wine press, consisted mainly of local delicacies, including the inevitable Espetada.

2:00 pm – The Stepping
The grape stepping begins, the high point of the event where everyone can, and must, participate using the traditional way – barefoot!

2:45 pm – Madeira Wine Tasting – ‘Al Fresco’
